Hello All,

Another viewpoint?

It seems in most areas choices for hobby beekeepers are limited to those wanting to make money than the best interests of said beekeepers?

Failure to keep bees alive fuels those selling both package bees &nucs.

Expansion is less an issue as is replacement?

The commercial beekeeper never wants (generally speaking) to be buying nucs or package bees but selling.

The list never seems to grasp the ways of those making a living from bees. However all beekeeping is local so i am speaking in general terms.

The best value today is easily the singles from H. Bell in Florida. All new boxes, tops, bottoms ,frames &queens.

Problem is a waiting list and H. Bell likes to sell semi loads.

As long as larger beekeepers are standing in line for semi loads why bother with less than 100 hive orders.

The Bell operation has provided the best experiment ever run on bees. HIVES all basically the same sent to all areas of the U.S and the results.
Approx. 20,000 singles per year over a five year period shipped.

References available from both almond growers & U.S. beekeepers.

Hobby beekeepers (in general terms) have always been the main buyers of package & and nucs and mostly for replacement of dead hives.

Bob
