> Real or perceived problems with resistant bees are worth discussing.

I have been working with mite resistant bees from a Texas breeder. I have been comparing them side by side with ordinary Italian type bees for several years. I find that they reduce the mite buildup by about half but not enough to avoid treatment in August. Also, as many have noted, the bees sometimes get really hot. But the thing I am most interested in is the ability to survive northern winter. The past few NY winters have been such a wipeout, they didn't tell me anything (most of the bees died). I have seen them survive a more reasonable winter. I have had some of the more crazy ones tested and they test European using morphometrics.
