<> <><>  Seems like a yard with a minimum of 40 colonies of approximately equal strength, with 1/2 going with adequate stores to overwinter and 1/2 being fed supplemental build-up supplementation, would bee needed to get an idea of whether supplemental feeding would be advantageous.  And, I think, these types of yards would bee needed to bee established in more than a few variously located areas throughout the U.S. to get better results.
