My TBH is aligned roughly N - S with the entrance at the S end.  I
re-established it this year after a winter clean up, leaving maybe a quarter of an inch
of the old combs as starters.  They have been following the pattern with no
problem but there is a distinct bias in the new comb towards the eastern side
(where the morning sun strikes).
