Information for both you and Charlie at at http://scientificbeekeeping.com/understanding-colony-buildup-and-decline-part-13a/

I pondered that, but does it apply? Zero brood, bees hanging with no comb break, and zero activity to speak of, I suspect the energy levels in this state are different?

Can it be calculated with simple energy units?? When I try that I wasn’t real pleased with the number. (been a while back)

I have math on the weight loss, I am betting that the majority of weight loss is strictly water, but so far have not quite been able to increase the uptake of water to a zero level. Right now cluster lose~ 1/3 of their weight in the first 4 days. Trying to change that is harder than it sounds.
