> Once again, the best test is a field test.

Why would one introduce the inherent additional
layer of fog of a field test when it is so easy
to first test the ability of the proposed cure
against a simple petri dish of AFB grown on agar?

The old exclusion zone is the gold-standard test,
as it puts the presumptive "cure" in direct contact
with the cultured bacteria. Nothing can work
"in the field" unless it first is shown to
work "in the petri dish".

The usual recipe is to grow it on MYPGP agar at
37°C for 48 hours or so. Easier than baking a cake.

But Cliff Van Eaton has been doing this sort
of thing in NZ for years. Anyone wanting to
check out "alternative" approaches to AFB
would do well to ask Cliff.
