With regard to brood and extracting frames, Ernie asks..."What is your
experience with these frames using pins,
and also using wire for support?"

Ernie, if you are only concerned about brood, "neither" is the answer. I
have some frames and foundation that have been in use for over 10 years
(probably too long), without wires or pins, and they are still almost
perfect. After all, feral bees use neither pins or wire.

Others will have to provide you with views with regard to extraction.

But I have to ask...why either? Why not go to Pierco frames? They are a
heck of a lot better, will last as long (or longer) and are a lot less work.
If you look around, you can buy them for the cost of the wood plus
foundation (with vertical wires)...and you do not have to assemble them.
They will not break if dropped, mice and wax worms cannot ruin them, and
bees readily draw them out.
