Hello Jerry & All,
Busy day so only time for a short comment.

Fact ( dictionary)
"Something asserted to be TRUE or actually happened"

asserted being the key word.

For decades researchers said varroa jacobsoni had jumped from cerana and was
killing the worlds bees.

This was a undisputed FACT with the worlds beekeeping researchers.

Then along came Denis Anderson and while observing varroa noticed varroa
jacobsoni was ROUND and the varroa killing the worlds bees was OBLONG . Wow
how could the worlds researchers have made such a mistake?

testing was done and indeed two different varroa.

So varroa destructor was named and now we have a new FACT.

varroa destructor ( the oblong mite) is the problem and not varroa
jacobsoni ( the oval mite).

While both varroa mites are similar as two species of common tick mite
might be ( number of legs or mouth parts) the oval vs oblong in shape with
the two varroa should have aroused the worlds beekeeping researchers.

So although a fact is accepted as the absolute truth today there is always a
chance down the road the FACT will need to be changed.

"What we do not know is so vast it makes what we do know seem absurd" Bob
Harrison

(and yes many have tried to find if another person ever said the quote
before and came up empty handed)

My other quote attributed to me surely has been said before but maybe not:

"beekeeping is both simple and complicated at the same time"

(which has a very deep meaning which newbie's on BEE-L understand after a
few weeks on the list)

The help is sick so I am doing the bottling and store delivery.

bob
