As far as I know PMS comes and goes with the mites.
Think of them like a tick bite- the bite itself isn't much of a wound but the
bacteria and stuff that comes along with the bite are a big deal.
Take a good flashlight and a hand lens and really inspect the brood combs for
disease signs like foulbrood
