I appreciate the suggestion, but in the real world, the beekeeper generally
does not have dry ice on hand.  Scientist similarly use liquid nitrogen to
flash freeze a colony.

What we want is something akin to the ease of use of cyanide--just toss a
bit in, and close up the entrance.

I've tried some solvents, such as lacquer thinner, which flash off and leave
not apparent residue.  But I can hear the distress of the bees as they
struggle.

Those of you who burned sulfur in a smoker clearly weren't aware of the
toxicity of sulfur dioxide vapors!  That is not a recommended way to apply
it!

What I am hoping is that some on the List can share actual practical
experience with proven effective methods.
