We can't do that down here in SHB territory.  In most, not all, cases the beetles will infest the patties before the bees can utilize them either for food or for storage.   I've had occasion to pick up a patty while inspecting  a hive and find that SHB larvae are infesting the bottom side of the patty.   I'm located 1/2 way between Montgomery and Mobile.
