In central Alberta our main honey flow comes from Canola. I have one yard
with 60 hives which in the past two years has averaged 240 lbs per hive. (
they are divided into two groups of 30 separated by a small pond surrounded
by bushes)

There are usually a couple of square miles of Canola within their foraging
area, which translates into half a billion plants. This gives about 150
plants per bee, each plant having several flowers. I imagine more hives
could be put there without affecting production much.

They seem to behave well, and build up in the spring without trouble on the
local willows and dandelions. I do feed about a gallon of sugar syrup in the
spring and another two gallons in the fall.
