After several shampooing its still sticky .. Any "experienced" ideas?

Dave, got an inexperienced idea.  If the carpet is not tacked onto the
floor, take it outside and let the bees work on it.  I know it's not nice to
make fun of another's bad fortune, but I couldn't resist.
