I am  using Mann Lake PF-100's [small cell] in the brood nest between 
foundationless  frames to help keep the combs straight. 



It is important to make sure the hives is level when not using foundation  
as the bees use gravity to build their comb vertically. If you use a small  
starter strip, or even  bead of wax drawn with a soldering iron, or the  
'footprint' of an earlier comb, generally they will build straight.
