I second Richard Bonney's recommendation of his book.  It is
a very readable and useful text.  I would add to the beginning
beekeeper's reading list Richard Taylor's Joys of Beekeeping.  Not
for technique but for the feeling.  Come to think of it, I would
recommend it to beekeepers and non.
