And as one beekeeper noted off List, bringing to attention the potential profound effect of mite immigration in the fall.

I am confused, Just happened to read an article yesterday in Kellys newsletter, another one ticked me off.

This Mite immigration collapse theory, why does everyone stick with it when basic math says it nonsense??

Do some immigrate? Absolutely, is this the cause of the fall spike in numbers, absolutely not feasible. For numbers in a hive to quadruple you would need 100% of the mites from 4 neighboring hives to successfully migrate. Not even close to a mathematical probability, so why do so many stick with it???

It eludes me.... I would enjoy seeing any math on the subject that would make a lick of sense. The only theory I see that works is the longer capped cell times in the fall, and possibly mites maturing faster in the same time frame.
