Bees definately don't like being brushed as I'm sure everyone knows.
Hold a frame over the open hive with a frame holder in your left hand
 and strike an end bar sharply a couple of times with the heel of
your right hand and most of the bees will fall off.  At least this
leaves fewer bees to brush.   Dan
