"Without a colony treatment against the parasite Varroa destructor the
conservation and survival of Apis mellifera is not possible."

Excellent find - Attaboy, Peter!

In spite of Einstein's purported claim that "Without bees, in 4 years man
will perish (sic, Note 1)." the statement that "survival of Apis mellifera
is not possible." is highly debatable. The bee will surely persist even
under unabated Varroa pressure. More likely, the fiscal survival of
commercial beekeeping will the principal factor at play.

Note 1, Further research into the matter seems to indicate that Einstein's
oft-attributed quote contained a typographic error. The actual quote was:
"Without beer, in 4 years man will perish." What a difference one letter
makes!
