OK, Bob, more work needs to be done. But does this fit the bill?

> In other words, what I am calling for is the development of a transdisciplinary "set of theoretical structures, research methods, and modes of practices" that extend beyond academic disciplinary silos to incorporate approaches rooted in other intellectual fields, such as ecosystem ecology and the interpretive social sciences, as well as involve non-scientist and non-academic professional fields, such as those of commercial beekeepers.

He put that string into quotes, not me. By the way, what's up with using a phrase like *academic disciplinary silos*? He may be the one who is in a silo, since he seems unaware of the networks already established between stakeholders. The researchers I know are actively involved with the industry and each other, not generally working in isolation on pet projects as he contends. So there he created a straw man to punch at.

Pete
