A quick google of the "decline of insects and songbirds" yields the three
main culprits which are reduction of habitat, pesticides, and climate
change, with climate change yielding the most hits.

Here in the Midwest songbirds suffer the most  from  other items   Cats and hawks and robins


Tree  dwelling birds such as robins seem safe from cats ( as opposed to medow larks and quail) and aggressively drive off other songbirds. ( watch this every morning in my yard)
  

The hawk situation is getting insane here  drove back from NE the other day and hawks roadside literally every 1/2 mile....  not to mention the forest dwelling ones.....

So much more. Than the  "habitat loss"  which data shows is not real,  or the global warming,  which should actually increase insect and seed mass...  can't blame  cats and hawks,  so only one thing left!
