I shared this some time ago in part.
As I was walking across the yard around 1998 God said "Call Stan M and get
some honeybees"
I had no idea where that was going and simply thought it was an
encouragement to friendship. I wasn't even dreaming of bees at the time .
Some time after that I was riding down the road and felt a strong
impression to go to the "Burrito Bandito" to eat. After a little wrestling
match(including a complaint that I didnt have much money!) I went. James V
was there and said "Did you know Al N. was "being called" out of the
beekeeping business into the ministry? To make a long story short I ended
up buying Al's equipment and he turned over his outlets to me. It was a
good deal for both of us.
(oh yeah, James offered-and I accepted-to buy my supper!)
There have been many ups and downs but if I had to use one word to describe
my experience that word would be "joy".
We are now in our 5+ year without mite treatments and have had our best
crop ever. Just looked at some of my overwintered nucs and they are simply
vibrant.

That's how I got started in beekeeping.
