The food for cows may have got better in terms of quantity and milk production but do they realise that?  Watch a herd of cows being put into a fresh pasture consisting of grass, grass and more grass without a weed (bee food!)in sight. Instead of heading for the middle where they would be surrounded by the lovely grub the farmer has grown for them, they all head for the fence and reach under for whatever tasty weeds they can find. And, of course, the elimination of wild flowers also eliminates food for our bees, for wild bees, and for the birds and beasts that live off them.
