I have made an effort to stay out of this complex problem, but it would
appear that
the inquirer is NOT comparing apples to apples when talking about the
difference in
resistance of mites and AFB bacteria.

Mites are a PEST, not a germ.
AFB bacteria is a germ, not a pest.
