Christina, have you actually spoken with starving farmers in those
countries.  In many, women do most of the work, and may spend most of their
days in simply hoeing weeds.  And many starve due to completely avoidable
crop failure due to viruses or other pathogens that could easily be
controlled by using better plant cultivars.

What the plant breeders are asking for is for us NOT to interfere with them
offering free precision-bred cultivars to their farmers.  No corporations
need to be involved--these are in-country, publicly-funded scientists.
