Cumulative blooming in most fruit trees - do not know if this applies to
dandelions - is directly related to chilling hours and degrees days after
chilling. Chilling hour are the hours when temperature is under a given
threshold (usually 7°C for fruit trees) and each variety need a given amount
of those hour to develop the flower. If you accumulate during winter a
bigger amount of chill hours (ergo a colder winter) you will have a higher
cumulative bloom (more flowers openning at the same time), but also they
will start blooming earlier. The start of bloom also need the acumulation of
degrees days , hour when the temperature is above a given threshold (in
fruit trees usually 10°C). If the spring sets soon the blooming also starts
ahead.

Following the posts of Bob Tisdale at http://bobtisdale.blogspot.com/ the
world average temperature could be explained in a high percentaje by the
variations of the ENSO (el niņo southern oscilation) with a lag of some
months (5 to 7). ENSO have pass from hot (el Niņo) conditions to cold ones
(la Niņa) past june, and now is coming back to a La Nada (neutral).
Therefore, that partly explains the average behaviour of past conditions.

The above gives ideal conditions for a great spring season in the northen
hemisphere, but ahead of times and each flow intense (but short).

Happy hunting ...

PS: I tried at the start of this CCD thing to introduce the discution of
global warming/climate change/climate fraud sun spots, but rapidly
understood that the ofitial explanation was still holding its greep in this
community. Now, particularly after climategate and the past 3 cold winters
people is more willing to accept reality. Global cooling ... After long
hours (some 12 years) following the skeptic thinking on weather and climate,
my guts tell me that we are facing similar conditions of the time between
1795 to 1810.

How was beekeeping on those times? How was life at that time?
