I had wondered about using fuel pellets.  A bag is fairly cheap... and
much easier than trying to keep it stocked with pine needles, or
grass, or whatever else I grab off the lawn.

My mentor uses burlap bags; but even those are hit/miss.  At one point
last summer, we used some bags that had absorbed some sort of arroma,
and no amount of airing in the sun would eliminate it.  The bees
definitely didn't like whatever had soaked into those bags.

I take it the bees respond well to the wood fuel pellet smoke...
doesn't upset them anymore than anything else?
