In yards without adequate sun, I use the Zareba 4612-A 5-mile charger with
12V deep cycle batteries. Battery is usu good for at least 2 months.

Tip: A fence charge tester that shows output to ground in volts is worth
the price if you have lots of bear fences. Alternatively, a long green
blade of grass makes a good tester. You must be wearing dry shoes with
normal rubber soles. Loop the blade over the wire, and hold the two ends
together, pulling against the wire. Slide your fingers slowly down the
blade, approaching the wire.

If the fence is putting out 7000 volts, you should start to slightly feel
the pulses about an inch away from the wire, feel them noticeably at 3/4",
and strongly at 1/2". Do not try with wet shoes!
