I am not sure I need a study to show it since the beekeeper right across
the street lost all her hives every year and insulated every year while I
might lose one and usually none and did not insulate.
And I did try insulation and found it to be too much of a bother for no
visible results.
I have found that the key for me is controlling winter feed to get good
overwintering. Compared to that and Varroa control, everything else is in
the noise.
