I was wondering what effect, if any, the spread of leafy spurge has had on
western US/Canadian beekeepers. This plant, Euphorbia esula, has
extensively colonized a huge area in a short time.

I have heard that the honey from it has an unpleasant, "green" flavor. I
would like to hear of other's experience with honey quality. However, I am
even more interested to learn if there might be some suspected adverse
effects on the colony health. Although not listed as a plant with toxic
pollen (such as the recent discussed California buckeye), other Euphorbia
species are listed as being among those that are known to be poisonous to
honeybees.
