Received my March, 1999, issue of "Mother Earth News" today.  On pages
52-56 is an article, "Beekeeping Basics" whcih provides, among other
things, drawings and plans for building one's own beehive and the
rudiments of beekeeping with a few references.
A second article follows on ppgs. 58 and 60 entitled, "Healing with
honey".  It is a good, general article.  Apitherapy is not mentioned.
Both are good reads for those contemplating entering beekeeping.
