Anyone have access to the article?  What I would be most interested in is what the "sub-leathal pesticide environment within the colony" looks like.  Are these free flying bees?  Are they being fed?  How large are the colonies?  ...most importantly, what was the sub-lethal concentration of imidacloprid, and how was it administered...and how does this relate to what bees are exposed to in the field?
