An hour NE of St. Louis, it's looking at this point like a mediocre year overall. Spring was very late, but when black locust finally burst out in mid-May our bees socked it away for about two weeks. As it tapered off the clover started blooming, and the future looked bright. But things just dried up and they stopped making honey. We got no rain here from May 20 to June 20, and the clover was just not producing.

This past week we got close to 2" of rain, and I'm hoping that'll jump start the clover, but that crop is generally finished by the end of June. Hopefully we'll get some moisture in the ground in time for fall goldenrod.
