>I am asking how the science experts on neonics and insects (those that
understand the physiology of neonics and the adaptation abilities of
insects) think that the predicted, eventual mechanism for neonic resistance
will work.

I was referring to your question about withdrawal from the insecticide.

With regard to resistance, you may wish to contact Dr John Casida at U.C.
Berkeley--he is one of the leading experts. Since neonics act as agonists
of the nicotinic ACh gated channels, any resistance would need to take
place by slight molecular tweaking of the gates.

Researchers are already developing neonics to be more specieis specific by
tweaking the molecules to target only the receptors of specific orders or
families of insects. E.g., to have an insecticide that only kills aphids,
but not honey bees.
