regulators, the literature on pesticides and about a wide range of insects
in general.  HOWEVER individually and collectively they knew very little
about beekeeping practicalities.
I wonder if a similar issue may be acting among the authors and institutes
of this CEH paper?

I suspect so Mike.  And then they bury us with high-level statistical
analysis of meaningless data.

I see this problem a great deal when I read the M&M of many bee research
papers, and especially in research proposals thrown at us for funding.  The
researchers obviously never consulted an experienced beekeeper.
