Someone wryly noted at a conference lately that beekeepers associate
certain special days with beekeeping management. For example, almonds
start blooming on about Valentine's Day, we dribble oxalic on Thanksgiving,
and colony buildup begins around Christmas. I also move to Nevada on the
4th of July, have nucs ready by April Fool's Day, all mites knocked back by
Labor Day, and ready for honey flow on Memorial Day.
