>For whats its worth over the past 2 seasons I have had a
number of colonies uncapping and in some cases re-capping
purple eyed pupa as well chewing some of thier heads.>

I am curious,,,

Are you able to confirm with 'absolute certainty', if there
were any instances in which 'both behaviors', -
*re-capping and
*chewing down pupa occurred in the 'same colony'?
Would you consider those that did exhibit both, to be
under varroa related stress?

Did you happen to notice if colonies which exhibited chewing
down of pupa and a very rapid re utilized the cell with honey or
larva, (talking less than 24 hours here) tended to NOT exhibit
ANY recapping behavior?

If you are unsure, can you please watch for this,
and report back later in the season?

I am seeking information related to the degree of recapping behavior
observed in colonies which chew pupa, remove, and re utilize cells in
less than 24 hours.

Best Wishes,
Joe Waggle
