 Jim,
you mention that " both sugar and corn plants use only "C4" photosynthesis."

Sugar beet is C3 (higher photosynthetic efficiency in dimmer climes!) as far as I am aware - correct
me if I am wrong.
European sugar(sucrose) is derived from this plant.
