It appears to me that they're sucking both larvae and royal jelly out of the cells and bottling them together. Is that correct?

I watched a couple of videos a while back on the hand method and yes they took larva and all.  Not sure if they strained it at some point???


It was interesting how they talked about the genetics of the hives they use for this,  as well as seeing just how much feed they put to these hives.  That was not shown in this video.  But it is a very specialized art!
