To me, Nature is the history and current status of what's happened and is
happening on this sphere of rock orbiting our star.  That does not imbue it
with any sort of plan or direction.

As far as Life, I'm in agreement with Dick in that any evolutionary changes
are the result of chance and the math concerning the degree of success at
passing heritable traits to the next generation.
