I've been placing Mite-a-way II pads in my hives.  Per directions, I've closed off the SBB.  I simply placed a board under the SBB, leaving the SBB exposed and facing the hive body.

Now discussions have swirled around the corrosive nature of formic.  Should I have simply replaced the SBB with a solid bottom?

Anyone have any experience with this?
