In industrial areas, absconding can be a response to gaseous chemicals,  
especially sulfur compounds.  We've seen this near acid plants.   Hillmann, 
years ago, saw it around facilities burning high sulfur coals, induced  it 
experimentally.
 
At a military site, we saw queens out walking on the ground after an  
accidental release.  Jerry
