Peter responded: "I would worry about contamination of honey."

Since switching to liquid smoke, I haven't noticed those irritating
little black specks that seem to get through the finest strainer when
bottling honey. Looked at under the microscope they don't have any
regular form as seeds or pollen would and so it is possible that they
are carbon emitted from the smoker.

I don't usually need to use the liquid smoke anywhere near any open
stores.
