With EFB there are two bacteria that can be present.  Melissococcus plutonis is the one that affects larvae before it is sealed and as such is the usual symptom of EFB.  

There is a secondary infection that is associated with EFB caused by Bacillus alvei.  This is found in the sealed brood and it does rope similar to AFB but not as much.
