I always objected to including screened bottom boards in IPM recommendations. I 
hink it is wrong to recommend something that *doesn't do anything*.
I've noticed far less chalkbrood since using mesh floors.. Examination of floor debris can give useful clues as to what's happening overhead including evidence of bees damaging mites or aborting afflicted pupae.
