I forgot on my long post to tell you about my survivor yard. yes I have one
yard at home where each year for the past three years i have been driving in
the best colonies of all the yard each autum.

Here is hell for them, never again any treatment, well not that so,
sometimes I put a bit of formic to the ones struggling with varroa.

it is funny to see all those bees without wings (DWV) crawling downhill
trying to fly back home. It is funny not cause i like to see them die, but
because I think that is the reason fo the dissapearing bees. They fall down
the entrance to the ground and crawl till they are far away from the hives.

it is funny also because here without any fumagilin treatment the spore
counts are great but colonies are in great shape. We will check again at the
end of this week if the nebauer chamber arrives from the dissaster zone.

It is funny also because each year most of the old queen swarm and the swarm
is not able to pass next winter. Therefore each year I loose 50%. It is
funny also because i am able to increase each year another 50% at least with
not effort.

Funny because I had the idea that a survivor yard was going to be one where
each year I will have less and less colonies till one day I will find only
one, my own an local ecotype of superbee.

This year i even harvest 30 supers and the yard looks great.

Well not that great, out of 60 hives I have 3 with chalkbrood
 ;)
