I suspect  D Thompson lives in northern US somewhere.  I find  
it more interesting when I know where the bees are kept.

Pollen mar 30 should give you a clue
mid Ontario -- Kawartha lakes & northern Durham

As to Sahara and Pyrenees bees are native only to the "Old World"
My point is that the races of bees are where they are only
by luck,chance and fitness last (how many "ice ages"?)
