Bob Said:
I wonder if you could explain the not long ago large bee kill in the peace

River district which made headlines in the U.S. ( BC , ABJ & Speedy Bee)
which you concluded was KBV.

Answer:

Sorry Bob, It is kind of late. I have been out of the office looking at
more bees. High winterkill in the Peace River is in my 3 reports, 07, 08,
and 09. It is region 5 in the tables. Same causes discussed in the report
are implicated in high winterkill. Reports can be found under Alberta
Agriculture website. In fact, I visited some operations where Checkmite
strips were in bee colonies for 3-4 weeks and mites were walking all over
the frames. If you are talking about 5-6 years ago, reported high kill in
early spring, it was KBV. Bees did not build up and shivering. It ended
up, colony died "Not Collapsed". However, this kill was isolated to few
operations.

I hope this answer your question.
