I am not answering this question,  but I am keenly interested in some
discussion on it.
After many years of good results with just a fall treatment of amitraz
and then oxalic drizzle this year some hives (but just some) are
showing lots of mites in the wash and I feel I have to do something
but the hives have supers on.
