Well put, Aaron, although I have to admit there is an aspect to recent discussion that is compelling to observe. It's like a family reunion discussion that gets louder as it moves along. It's a well known fact that louder is smarter!
Despite snarkiness, there is still, generally, the deep under-current of respect here; and far more intelligent discourse than can be found elsewhere. 
Put this many big brains in a forum and there is bound to be the occasional display of fireworks.
It is still wonderful to read and follow.
