I think not, l have seen my bees rolling in wood chips long before the
varroa mites. I still have no idea what they were doing. Any answers out
there?Also wondering,

 Reminded me of how birds will roll and fluff around in dirt.

 Well, birds roll in dirt in an attempt to dislodge mites.  Were it not the
 season where bees will collect anything that resembles pollen, I would
 wonder.  I'm wondering anyway.  Could it be?
